Tropic All Mix 50 Litres - Fully Organic, Pre-Fertilised Potting Soil
Best for: Growers who want a ready-to-use organic soil with enough built-in feed to get plants through a good stretch of vegetative growth before extra nutrients are needed.
Our thoughts
This is the heavier-fed sibling in the Tropic soil range - it's got enough organic nutrition built in that a lot of growers can run several weeks of veg on water alone before feeding kicks in. If you want a soil that does some of the early thinking for you, this is the one; if you want to control feed from day one, look at Tropic Light Mix instead.
Tropic All Mix is a fully organic, pre-fertilised potting soil built to mimic the fertile conditions plants would find growing outdoors. The blend combines peat moss, black peat (RHP-graded), perlite and brown peat with added limestone to buffer pH, plus beneficial microbes and bacteria that support a living root zone rather than just a sterile growing medium. It's ready to use straight from the bag, with a starting pH of around 5.5 (typically 5.0-6.0) and EC of around 1.0 (typically 0.8-1.2) from its organic nutrient charge.
How it compares
Sits in the pre-fertilised "all-in-one" organic soil category alongside some well-known European names.
- Comparable in concept to BioBizz's All-Mix, one of the best-known pre-fertilised organic soils and the product that popularised this style of ready-to-feed potting mix.
- Versus Plagron's own pre-fertilised soil mixes, Tropic All Mix uses a similar peat/perlite/limestone base with organic nutrient charge, differing mainly in exact nutrient ratios and price point.
- Versus Tropic Light Mix (its lighter-fed sibling), All Mix carries a noticeably higher nutrient charge, meaning it suits vigorous feeders and longer veg periods before top-up feeding is needed.
A heavier initial nutrient charge than most soils on the shelf, which suits growers who'd rather the soil do some of the early feeding for them.
Usage guidance
Potting up
Use straight from the bag with no additional feed needed for the first few weeks - the organic nutrient charge is built in and typically carries plants well into vegetative growth.
When to start feeding
Watch leaf colour and growth rate rather than working to a fixed calendar - once the built-in charge starts depleting (often several weeks in, depending on pot size and plant vigour), begin introducing a light organic or mineral feed.
Watering
Water thoroughly and allow the top layer to dry slightly between waterings - the peat-based structure holds moisture well, so overwatering is more common than underwatering with this mix.
pH
The limestone buffering keeps pH stable around 5.5-6.0 without much intervention, but check periodically, particularly if using hard tap water.

Who this is for
- Growers who want a soil that feeds itself through early growth without a strict feed schedule
- Organic growers who prefer a living soil approach with built-in microbial activity
- Anyone growing vigorous feeders who benefit from a higher nutrient charge from the start
- Growers who'd rather not mix their own soil blend from raw ingredients
Less suited to growers who want tight control over feeding from day one - for that, Tropic Light Mix is the better starting point.
Our take
All Mix earns its place as the higher-charge option in the Tropic soil range - it takes some of the guesswork out of early feeding, provided you're prepared to let the soil do its job rather than adding extra nutrients too soon. Good value against comparable pre-fertilised soils from bigger-name European brands.
One we sell a lot of for growers who want a low-maintenance start to the grow. Proper kit at a price that makes sense.
