Growmax Pro 3000 Reverse Osmosis Unit - 3-Stage Unit for High-Volume Growers
Best for: Multi-tent or commercial-scale growers who need a lot of properly clean water, fast, and don't want to be swapping filters every few weeks.
Our thoughts
This is the big one in the GrowMax range, and it's priced like it. If you're only filling a couple of small reservoirs, this is overkill - go for the Power Grow 500 or Mega Grow 1000 instead. But if you're running several rooms or a proper commercial setup and you're sick of your RO unit being the bottleneck on feed day, the Pro 3000 earns its keep. Proper kit at a price that makes sense once you work out the cost per litre.
The GrowMax Pro 3000 is a 3-stage reverse osmosis system built by GrowMax Water, capable of producing up to 125 litres of pure water per hour (around 3,000 litres a day at full flow). Water passes through a sediment stage, a coconut carbon block, and then a reverse osmosis membrane, which strips out roughly 95% of dissolved salts and heavy metals along with 99% of chlorine and sediment down to 5 microns. It runs on mains water pressure alone - no electricity needed - though you'll want at least 40 PSI to get it working properly, and 60-80 PSI for best output.
It comes complete with inlet tubing and connectors, the coconut carbon pre-filter, two RO membranes, a pressure gauge, outlet tubing and a shut-off valve, so it's ready to plumb in rather than needing extra parts bought separately. On mains water with typical UK hardness and chlorine levels, expect the carbon/sediment stage to need changing roughly every 6 months (around 40,000 litres through it), with the membrane good for about 9 months before it needs replacing.
How it compares
Within GrowMax's own range, the Pro 3000 sits above the Power Grow 500 (500L/day) and Mega Grow 1000 (1,000L/day) as the highest-output RO unit they make.
- Output is roughly 3x the Mega Grow 1000 and 6x the Power Grow 500, which matters if you're filling multiple large reservoirs on the same day rather than topping up one tent.
- Against HydroLogic's Evolution RO1000 (around 3,785 litres/day), the Pro 3000 is a touch lower on raw output but comparable in the class of unit, and is a genuinely 3-stage membrane system rather than a stripped-back single-membrane design.
- If your mains water is heavily chlorinated or your membrane is working hard, GrowMax also sell the Super Grow 800 as a stand-alone pre-filter - running your water through that first can extend the life of the Pro 3000's membrane, though it's an optional extra rather than something you need from day one.
You're paying commercial-unit money for commercial-unit output - if your usage doesn't justify that volume, a smaller GrowMax RO system will do the job for a lot less outlay.
Usage guidance
Getting the plumbing and pressure right makes the biggest difference to how this performs.
Installation
Connect to a standard mains cold water supply via the inlet tubing, fit the shut-off valve, and run the purified output line into your reservoir or storage tank. Check the pressure gauge once running - if it's reading below 40 PSI you'll get reduced flow and shorter membrane life.
Waste water
Like any RO unit, this produces waste water alongside the pure output (roughly 60% waste to 40% pure at optimised settings) - plan for a drain or waste container nearby rather than assuming all the input water comes out usable.
Filter changes
Keep a spare carbon/sediment cartridge on hand and swap it on a calendar reminder rather than waiting for output to visibly drop - by the time you notice a difference, the membrane behind it has usually already taken some strain.
Technical specifications

- Salt/heavy metal reduction: up to 95%
- Chlorine and sediment reduction: up to 99% chlorine, sediment to 5 microns
- Waste-to-pure water ratio: approx. 60% waste / 40% pure
- Minimum operating pressure: 40 PSI (60-80 PSI optimal)
- Power required: none - mains pressure driven
- Carbon/sediment filter life: approx. 40,000 litres or 6 months
- Membrane life: approx. 9 months
- Included: inlet tubing, connectors, carbon filter, 2x RO membrane, pressure gauge, outlet tubing, shut-off valve
Who this is for
- Growers running multiple tents or rooms off one water source
- Anyone on hard or heavily treated mains water who needs consistent low-EC water at volume
- Growers currently waiting around for a smaller RO unit to keep up with reservoir demand
- Commercial or semi-commercial setups where downtime waiting for water is a real cost
Not the right buy if you're only filling one or two small reservoirs - that's what the Power Grow 500 or Mega Grow 1000 are for.
Our take
The Pro 3000 does what a top-tier RO unit should: it turns ordinary mains water into consistent, low-EC feed water at a rate that keeps up with a proper multi-room operation. It's a real 3-stage membrane system with the parts to prove it, not a cut-down unit wearing a big number on the box.
If your operation is big enough to need this kind of throughput, it's proper kit at a price that makes sense for what it does. Worth the investment if the alternative is your grow schedule waiting on your water filter.
