Ecothrive Coco Pro 50 Litres - Pre-Buffered Coco Coir Enriched with Charge
Best for: indoor growers who hand-water and want a ready-to-use coco mix that doesn't need a separate biostimulant bought on top.
Our thoughts
This is proper coco, not the cheap stuff that fights you on calcium and magnesium uptake. Ecothrive have already blended in their Charge insect frass, so you get the slow-release biostimulant boost built in rather than as an extra purchase. It's low-EC out of the bag, so you can plant straight into it without a big flush first. A sound, low-fuss choice for hand-watered setups and propagation.
Ecothrive Coco Pro is a 100% pure coco coir mix, pre-buffered and enriched with Ecothrive Charge, an insect frass biostimulant. The buffering process counteracts coco's natural tendency to lock up calcium, magnesium and nitrogen, so nutrients get to the roots rather than getting held in the medium. Charge adds a source of slow-release, broad-spectrum nutrition on top, which is particularly useful for seedlings and cuttings in their first few weeks.
It comes in a 50 litre bag, ready to use straight from the pack once you've broken up any compressed lumps. It's suited to hand-watering rather than high-frequency drip systems, and it holds water well enough to make it forgiving if you're not watering to a strict schedule.
How it compares
Coco is coco at a basic level, but the buffering and biostimulant content is where mixes separate out.
- Ecothrive Coco Pro comes pre-buffered and pre-charged with Charge insect frass, where plain coco mixes from brands like Canna Coco Professional or Plagron Cocos need a separate biostimulant added if you want the same boost.
- It's a 100% coco mix rather than a coco/perlite blend, so it holds more water and needs less frequent watering than an aerated mix like Biobizz Coco Mix.
- It's reusable, provided you flush it and recondition with Charge between crops, keeping ongoing costs down versus buying fresh coco every cycle.
You're paying for a coco mix that's already had the hard part (buffering and biostimulant) done for you, rather than a blank medium you have to prep yourself.
Usage guidance
Coco Pro is designed to be simple, but a few basics make a real difference to results.
Filling and planting
Pour the mix into your pot, break up any compressed lumps, settle it by tapping the pot on the base and sides, then plant straight in.
Feeding from day one
Because Charge releases nutrition slowly, you can start on your coco-specific nutrient programme from day one rather than waiting. Start at a low EC around 1.2 mS/cm.
Propagation and cuttings
Pre-moisten with a mild nutrient solution no stronger than EC 1.2 mS/cm before potting up seedlings or cuttings.
pH range
Keep your feed solution between pH 5.8 and 6.2 for the best nutrient uptake in coco.
Reusing the bag
Remove old root material, flush thoroughly with fresh water, and recondition with fresh Charge before reusing for another crop.

Who this is for

Best suited to hand-watered pots rather than automated drip systems that need a lighter, more aerated mix.
Our take
Coco Pro takes one of the most common coco headaches (cation lockup) off the table before you even open the bag, and the built-in Charge means less faffing about with separate biostimulants for propagation. It's a straightforward, reliable buy for hand-waterers.
One we sell a lot of for new growers who want a medium that just works without extra steps.
