AutoPot Silicone for 5mm AQUAvalve Bottom Float - Genuine AQUAvalve5 Spare Seal
Best for: AutoPot users with an AQUAvalve5 whose bottom float silicone has perished, split or stopped sealing properly.
Our thoughts
About as small and cheap a part as we stock, but it's the difference between a valve that works and a tray that floods. If your AQUAvalve5 is playing up, check this before you go buying a whole new valve. Does exactly what it should for well under a pound.
This is the silicone sleeve that fits over the bottom float inside an AutoPot AQUAvalve5 - the float-based valve that controls watering across every AutoPot gravity-fed system. It's the larger of the two silicone parts in an AQUAvalve5 (the top float silicone is a separate, smaller part) and is specific to the AQUAvalve5 only - it isn't compatible with the older AQUAvalve3 (blue) or AQUAvalve4 (black).
Over repeated wetting and drying cycles this silicone can perish, crack or lose its grip, which stops the float rising and falling correctly and throws off your whole watering cycle - usually showing up as flooding, or a tray that isn't filling at all.
How it compares
It's a targeted fix for one common failure point, not a whole-valve replacement.
- Vs replacing the whole AQUAvalve5 - if only the silicone has failed, this sorts it for a fraction of the cost of a new valve
- Vs the top float silicone - the two parts are different sizes and not interchangeable, so make sure you're ordering the bottom one if that's the one that's gone
- Vs generic O-rings or seals - this is sized specifically for the AQUAvalve5 float, so it fits straight on without trimming or forcing
A near-invisible part, but one that's worth keeping a spare of if you're running an established AutoPot system.
Usage guidance
Diagnosis
If your AQUAvalve is flooding, not filling, or the float feels loose or won't sit flush, a perished bottom silicone is one of the first things to check.
Fitting
Open the AQUAvalve housing, remove the old bottom float, peel off the failed silicone and stretch the new one over in its place.
Stocking spares
Keep one or two on hand if you run AutoPot regularly - it's a cheap way to avoid a mid-grow watering failure while you wait for a replacement part to arrive.
Technical specifications
- Compatible with: AQUAvalve5 only
- Fits: bottom float (larger of the two float silicones)
- Not compatible with: AQUAvalve3 (blue), AQUAvalve4 (black)
- Material: silicone
- Function: seals and cushions the bottom float for accurate water-level sensing
Who this is for
- AQUAvalve5 owners doing routine maintenance
- Anyone troubleshooting a flooding or under-filling AutoPot tray
- Growers who like to keep spares on hand rather than risk a mid-grow failure
Our take
It's a tiny part but it does a specific, necessary job - keeping the AQUAvalve5's bottom float sealed so your watering cycle stays accurate.
Cheap enough to buy a couple as spares while you're at it. Does exactly what it should, day in, day out.
