"Marix" isn't a typo, it's genuinely what AutoPot call this part on their own site, easy to assume it should read "Matrix" but it doesn't. Whatever you call it, it's a five-minute job when potting up and it's cheap insurance against substrate eventually fouling an AQUAvalve.
The Marix Disc is a flat, textured black disc measuring 186mm x 186mm, designed to sit in the base of AutoPot's square 8.5 litre and 15 litre pots, the pot size used across the easy2grow, 1Pot and Auto8 module ranges. Marix is AutoPot's own name for this part, not an alternative spelling of "matrix", and it appears the same way on AutoPot's own UK product listings.
Placed in the bottom of the pot before substrate goes in, it acts as a barrier that keeps grow media contained while still allowing water to wick freely up from the tray below.

It's the square version, matched to AutoPot's square pot range rather than the older round modules.

Usage guidance
Fitting
Place one disc flat in the base of each square pot before adding your substrate, textured side facing up.
Pairing with other parts
Use alongside a root control disc if your module includes one, the two work together to keep both substrate and fine roots away from the AQUAvalve.
Replacing
If a disc becomes damaged, clogged or misshapen between grows, replace it rather than reusing it, they're inexpensive enough not to risk a blocked valve over.
