Terra Aquatica FlashClean 5 Litre - Salt Build-Up Flush for Any Growing Medium
Best for: Growers dealing with slowed growth, nutrient lockout or crusty white salt build-up on their substrate, and anyone flushing before harvest or between crops.
Our thoughts
This is the same trusted formula that used to be sold as General Hydroponics FloraKleen, just wearing Terra Aquatica's newer branding since the European rebrand. If your coco or soil is looking crusty and white, or growth has slowed for no obvious reason, this is usually the fix - it's cheap insurance against salt lockout that's easy to overlook.
FlashClean is a rinse and substrate conditioner from Terra Aquatica (formerly General Hydroponics Europe), designed to dissolve and flush out the mineral salt residues that build up in coco, soil and hydro systems over repeated feeding cycles. As mineral nutrients are used and water evaporates, salts are left behind in the substrate; left unchecked, this build-up can block root uptake and cause nutrient lockout even when your feed schedule is otherwise correct. FlashClean breaks the bond between salts and substrate so they can be rinsed away with plain water.
How it compares
A standard part of most hydroponic and coco feeding programmes rather than a niche product.
- Sold under the General Hydroponics brand outside Europe as FloraKleen - it's the same formula, just rebranded for the European market under Terra Aquatica.
- Compared to simply flushing with plain water alone, FlashClean actively breaks down bonded mineral salts rather than just diluting the feed, making it more effective on established build-up.
- Compared to premium flush products from brands like Advanced Nutrients (Flawless Finish) or Canna (Flush), FlashClean is positioned as a straightforward, no-frills salt flush at a lower price point, without added taste or ripening claims.
Cheap relative to what it protects against - a lockout you catch late can cost you far more than the bottle.
Usage guidance
Mid-grow flush
Run FlashClean through your system every few weeks as a preventative flush, following the dosage on the bottle, especially if you're feeding heavily or growing in a reused substrate.
Pre-harvest flush
Use in the final week or two before harvest to strip excess nutrient salts from the substrate, helping to clear any built-up residue before you stop feeding.
Between crops
Flush pots or reused hydro media with FlashClean before starting a new crop to clear salt left behind by the previous grow, particularly important in recirculating systems.
Application
Mix at the rate stated on the label and run through as you would a normal feed, then follow with a plain water rinse if flushing heavily.

Our take
Salt lockout is one of those problems that looks like a dozen other issues until you rule it out, and FlashClean is the straightforward way to rule it out - or prevent it happening in the first place. It's not exciting, but it protects the investment you've already made in nutrients and substrate.
Does exactly what it should, day in, day out. Worth picking up alongside your regular feed schedule.
