Growth Technology Orchid Focus Bloom 300ml - Potassium-Rich Feed for Orchids in Spike
Best for: orchid owners, especially Phalaenopsis growers, who want more flowers and stronger flower stems during the blooming stage.
Our thoughts
Orchids get fed badly more often than not - either starved because people are scared of "overdoing it", or hit with a generic houseplant feed that isn't built for them. Orchid Focus Bloom is formulated specifically for orchids in spike, and the extra potassium genuinely shows up as more flowers rather than just more leaf. Small bottle, but it lasts because the dose rate is low.
Growth Technology Orchid Focus Bloom is a liquid feed built specifically for orchids that are in spike or flowering. It carries an NPK ratio of roughly 1.1:1.5:2.4, weighted towards potassium to support flower development rather than leaf growth, and it's formulated with all 12 essential minerals so there's no need to add anything else alongside it.
The formula is entirely urea-free, since urea has been shown to cause problems for some orchid species, and nitrogen is supplied in nitrate form for steady, healthy uptake over long feeding periods. It's suited to Phalaenopsis at all growth stages, and to the flowering stage of Cymbidium, Dendrobium, Odontoglossum, Cambria, Brassia, Miltonia and similar genera.
How it compares
Most orchid feeds on general garden shelves are generic houseplant formulas with an orchid label stuck on - Orchid Focus Bloom is built around the plant, not the packaging.
- Baby Bio Orchid Feed is the common supermarket alternative but uses a broader, less flowering-focused nutrient balance.
- Miracle-Gro Orchid Food is widely available but doesn't specify a urea-free formulation, which matters for sensitive orchid species.
- Vitax Orchid Feed sits closer in price but doesn't break out separate Grow and Bloom formulas the way Growth Technology's Orchid Focus range does.
You're paying a little more for a feed that's specifically tuned to flowering orchids rather than a generic all-purpose formula, and the difference tends to show in flower count.
Usage guidance
Dosage

When to switch
Use Orchid Focus Bloom once your orchid is in spike or flowering; switch to Orchid Focus Grow for the vegetative growth phase.
Watering method
Water as normal with the diluted feed rather than a plain water rinse, keeping to your orchid's usual watering frequency.

Our take
Orchid Focus Bloom does what a lot of "orchid feeds" claim to but don't quite deliver - a formula genuinely built around what orchids need to flower well, without the urea that can cause problems for sensitive types. The 5ml per litre dose means the 300ml bottle goes further than you'd expect.
One we sell a lot of for new growers nervous about feeding their orchids wrong. Worth picking up if you want your orchid actually flowering rather than just sitting there green.
