Aptus Humic Blast - Organic Soil Conditioner for End-of-Cycle Flush and Medium Reuse
Best for: growers wanting to condition their growing medium at the end of a cycle, either to finish cleanly or to prep the medium for reuse.
Our thoughts
This is very much an end-of-cycle product rather than something you dose all the way through. Used in the last couple of waterings it helps break down the build-up of salts your medium has accumulated over the cycle, which matters both for a cleaner finish and if you are planning to reuse that medium next time round. Simple to use, just do not forget it in the run-up to harvest.
Humic Blast is an organic soil conditioner built around humic acid sourced from the Leonardite layer, supplemented with microlife biomass from controlled fermentation, growth-promoting L-amino acids and specific plant extracts. Humic acid works by storing nutrients in the medium until the plant is ready to take them up, while also helping to balance cation exchange capacity, improve water retention and break down the salt build-up that accumulates in a growing medium over a cycle.
It also has a detoxifying effect, helping to neutralise heavy metals, chlorine compounds, aluminium and sodium that can accumulate in the medium, which is part of why Aptus position it as a way to allow safe medium reuse across multiple cycles rather than always starting fresh.
How it compares
Humic acid soil conditioners are common across organic and semi-organic nutrient ranges.
- Compared with plain Leonardite-derived humic acid products sold as standalone soil amendments, Humic Blast adds microlife biomass and amino acids into the same formula.
- Against Canna's Cannazym, which is enzyme-focused, Humic Blast works more on the medium's structure and salt build-up rather than directly targeting root-zone enzymes.
- Compared with its sister product Fulvic Blast, Humic Blast is used specifically at the end of a cycle as a conditioner and flush aid, while Fulvic Blast is dosed weekly throughout as ongoing microelement prevention.
It fills a specific end-of-cycle niche rather than trying to be an all-purpose additive, which keeps its use simple.
Usage guidance
Humic Blast is used specifically toward the end of a cycle rather than throughout.
Standard dose
Use 3ml per 10 litres of water during the last two to three waterings of the cycle.
Final watering
Increase to 6ml per 10 litres of water for the very last watering before harvest or flush.
Medium reuse
Use ahead of transplanting to condition new growing medium, or use in the final feedings, alongside a plain water flush in the final week, to prepare the medium for its next cycle.
Preparation
Shake well before use.

Who this is for
- Growers wanting to condition and flush their medium cleanly before harvest
- Anyone planning to reuse soil, coco or other growing medium for another cycle
- Growers dealing with salt build-up or nutrient lock-out late in a cycle
- Budget-conscious growers wanting to get more cycles out of the same medium
Our take
Humic Blast is a small, specific job done properly: clean up the medium at the end of a cycle so you finish well and set yourself up for a cleaner reuse or a fresh start. It is not a product you will think about often, but it earns its place in the last week or two.
Worth having on hand for the final stretch of every cycle. Does exactly what it should, day in, day out.
