Advanced Nutrients Connoisseur Grow A&B - Flagship Two-Part Vegetative Base Nutrient
Best for: Experienced growers with a dialled-in environment who want to push yield and quality beyond what a standard base nutrient delivers.
Our thoughts
This is flagship territory within Advanced Nutrients' own range, sitting above their standard Sensi Grow line. If you've already got your environment and technique sorted and you're chasing the last few percent of performance, this is built for exactly that. It's not the nutrient to start your first grow on - it's the one to move up to once you know what you're doing.
Connoisseur Grow A&B is a premium two-part liquid base nutrient from Advanced Nutrients, designed for the vegetative growth phase in hydroponic and recirculating systems. It uses Advanced Nutrients' pH Perfect Technology, which automatically buffers your mixed nutrient solution to a pH of roughly 5.5 to 6.3 regardless of your input water's starting acidity or alkalinity - provided you're running it clean alongside other Advanced Nutrients products and not mixing in unrelated brands that can interfere with the buffering.
Beyond the automatic pH control, the formula includes amino acids, humic and fulvic acids, chelated micronutrients and wetting agents intended to improve nutrient transport and uptake. Part A carries an NPK ratio of 4-0-0 and Part B carries 1-2-7, delivered together to support vigorous vegetative growth ahead of the flowering stage.
How it compares
Connoisseur Grow sits at the premium end of the two-part hydroponic base nutrient market, priced above Advanced Nutrients' own standard tier.
- Vs Advanced Nutrients Sensi Grow (their standard two-part line): Connoisseur uses a richer amino acid and chelated micronutrient blend, but the real-world gain over Sensi Grow is incremental for most growers rather than transformative.
- Vs Canna Aqua/Hydro A&B: similar premium price bracket; Canna requires manual pH management while Connoisseur's pH Perfect tech automates that step.
- Vs House & Garden Coco/Hydro A&B: House & Garden is a comparable premium two-part option; Connoisseur's amino acid and chelated micronutrient profile is generally regarded as the richer of the two.
You're paying for the top tier of a nutrient brand that's been refining its formulations since 1999 - the price reflects that positioning, not a mark-up for the sake of it.
Usage guidance
Connoisseur Grow works across most liquid-feed hydroponic systems, but it's optimised for recirculating setups.
Standard dosage
Use 4ml of Part A and 4ml of Part B per litre of water, per the manufacturer's guidance. Some experienced growers run lighter at around 2-2.5ml per litre with good results - dial in what suits your environment.
Mixing order
Add Part A first and mix thoroughly before adding Part B. Never combine both parts in concentrated form, as this can cause nutrient lockout.
Water quality
pH Perfect Technology works best with RO water or tap water below roughly 100ppm. Heavily mineralised tap water can fight against the buffering, so switching to RO makes a real difference to consistency.
Companion additives
Connoisseur Grow pairs with Advanced Nutrients' specialty bloom additives once you move into flower, letting you build a full feeding programme around the same base brand.

Who this is for
- Experienced hydroponic growers with a proven track record of successful crops
- Growers whose environment (lighting, humidity, airflow, temperature) is already well controlled
- Anyone running RO water or low-EC tap water who wants pH Perfect to work as designed
- Growers comfortable with precise two-part mixing and looking to push results past a standard base nutrient
Not the right starting point for a first grow - Connoisseur Grow is the step up once the basics are already solid.
Our take
Connoisseur Grow is Advanced Nutrients' flagship base nutrient, and the formulation backs that up - genuinely richer in amino acids and chelated micronutrients than the standard Sensi line, with automatic pH control that removes a real daily task from hydroponic growing.
If your results with a mid-tier two-part nutrient are already strong, the jump to Connoisseur is a refinement rather than a transformation - but for growers with the environment and experience to use it properly, it's proper kit at a price that makes sense.
