Flairform Pythoff — Hydroponic System Steriliser for Root Rot Prevention
Best for: Hydroponic growers wanting to prevent root disease, pythium, and system blockages without overcomplicating things
Our thoughts
If you're running hydroponics, root rot is the threat that keeps you awake. Pythoff does one job properly — it sterilises your system from tank to roots and keeps it that way. It's what commercial growers use, it's safe from seedling to harvest, and it actually works. Worth having on the shelf.
Flairform Pythoff is a concentrated hydroponic system steriliser based on monochloramine, the same disinfectant trusted in drinking water supplies worldwide. Add it to your nutrient solution weekly and it sterilises everything it touches — your reservoir, drippers, and root zone — preventing pythium, root browning, and the fungal infections that can collapse an entire crop in days. It's non-toxic, non-systemic, safe from seedling through harvest, and so concentrated that a little goes a long way.
How it compares
In the hydroponic disease prevention space, Pythoff stands out for reliability and residual protection.
- Unlike hydrogen peroxide, Pythoff leaves a lasting disinfectant layer throughout your system — not a one-off oxidiser
- More stable and predictable than UV or ozone treatments, which don't create residual protection in your nutrient solution
- Industry standard used by commercial greenhouse growers — proven track record at scale
- Indefinite shelf life, so dosing remains consistent batch to batch
Usage guidance
Preventative maintenance (weekly)
Add 2ml per 10 litres of reservoir into 1 litre of nutrient-free water, mix well, then add slowly to your reservoir while stirring. Run your pump for 15 minutes to distribute through the entire system. That's it — repeat every 7 days.
Treating active root rot
If you've already got an infection, switch to daily dosing and drop any beneficial bacteria or fungi products — Pythoff will kill them. This is your system reset button.
System cleaning between crops
Pythoff sterilises all your hardware, lines, and surfaces. It's also ideal for pre-treating your make-up water before it enters the reservoir.
Important: Pythoff is designed for hydroponic systems only. Don't use it in coco, soil, or wood-chip substrates — it will kill the beneficial microbes those mediums rely on. Also incompatible with mycorrhizae or beneficial bacteria additives.

Our take
Root rot is a hydroponic grower's worst nightmare, and prevention beats crisis management every time. Pythoff does what it should — sterilises your system reliably, week in, week out — and it's the same strength commercial growers trust. Concentrated, stable, safe across your entire growing cycle, and it actually prevents the disasters that cost real money.
Good time to buy while stock lasts. Does exactly what it should, day in, day out.
