EasyFeed System - 22 Litre — Programmable Gravity-Fed Hydroponics Without the Complexity
Best for: Growers wanting automated bottom-feeding control without electricity, pumps, or the learning curve of flood & drain systems
Our thoughts
This is the sweet spot between set-and-forget (Autopot) and full-control (IWS Flood & Drain). The EasyFeed gives you a programmable timer on a gravity-fed system, which means you're in the driving seat without needing a pump or mains power. Thicker pipes than the competition, designed to scale with you, and built on feedback from growers sick of blockages and maintenance headaches. One a lot of people are switching to.
The EasyFeed System - 22 litre is a gravity-fed bottom-feeding hydroponics setup that combines the simplicity of passive systems with programmable control. Using a battery-powered timer and no electricity, it bottom-feeds nutrient solution from a flexi tank into 22-litre fabric pots at intervals you set—hourly, daily, every few days, whatever your growing cycle needs. It's designed for growers tired of hand-watering or worried about leaving plants unattended, but who want more control than a standard float-valve system gives them.
How it compares
EasyFeed sits in a space most other systems don't quite fill.
-
vs Autopot: Both gravity-fed and simple, but EasyFeed's timer gives you scheduling control. Autopot is more passive—water when the float valve says so. EasyFeed is you deciding when plants feed.
-
vs IWS Flood & Drain: IWS is brilliant for certain media and yields, but it's more complex and costs more. EasyFeed gives you IWS-level programmability at lower cost and less fuss.
-
vs pump-driven drip systems: No electricity, no pump noise, no running costs. Just gravity and a timer on 2 x AAA batteries.
The 13mm (internal) pipework is thicker than competitors—that alone reduces blockage headaches significantly, which is a real problem growers have mentioned time and again.
Usage guidance
The EasyFeed 22-litre system works across different growing styles and media types.
Basic setup
Connect your nutrient tank (minimum 250 litres recommended for the 22L system) to the battery-powered timer. Set your feed schedule—might be twice daily during growth, once daily during flower, once every 3 days during early establishment. The timer controls how long nutrient flows into the tray each cycle. Bottom-feed continues until the float valve stops flow at your chosen water level.
Media choice
Works best with a 60/40 coco and clay pebble mix—the clay pebbles at the bottom prevent waterlogging, the coco holds moisture. You can use pure coco, soil, or other mixes, but 60/40 is the sweet spot for this system. The fabric pots create air-pruning effect as roots hit the pot wall, so they grow downwards instead of circling.
Feed schedule control
This is where EasyFeed differs from passive systems. Dry periods between feeds matter—they let the rootzone re-oxygenate. Soggy roots slow growth and invite root rot. With EasyFeed, you control exactly when that happens. New plants might feed every 2-3 days. Established plants every 12 hours. You adjust as you go.
Water level adjustment
Float valves in each tray can be adjusted up or down, so plants at different sizes can feed at the same time without issues. Small plant needs shallow water level, bigger plant needs deeper. Set them individually.
Maintenance
Filter needs cleaning once a week to avoid blockages. Change AAA batteries every 9 weeks (red warning light tells you when they're getting low). That's it.

Who this is for
- Growers stepping up from hand-watering who want automation without complexity
- People with no mains power available or who want silent operation
- Experienced growers wanting to scale from small to medium without buying a whole new system
- Anyone who's had pump failures or blockage nightmares with smaller-bore pipe systems
- Growers who value control—want to set schedules—over pure passive operation
- Small commercial setups looking for reliable, low-cost irrigation with no running costs
Particularly strong for growers using coco or clay pebble media, where bottom-feeding and dry-down cycles make a real difference to growth rates and health.
Our take
This is a properly thought-through system. It addresses real problems growers have mentioned—blockages, lack of control, complexity, cost. The fact you can scale it from 2 pots to 100+ without replacing anything is smart. The thicker pipework is a detail, but it's one that stops you cleaning filters every other day.
If you're at the point where hand-watering feels like a chore or you're worried about leaving plants while you're away, or you want to test bottom-feeding without investing in a full IWS setup, this is worth picking up. Gravity-fed means no pump noise, no electric bill, no power cut worries. Just a timer on batteries and some plumbing. Does exactly what it should, day in, day out.
