Atami - ATA Clean - Keeps Drippers and Pipework Free of Blockages
Best for: Growers running drip, AutoPot or other irrigation systems who want to stop mineral salt buildup clogging drippers, diffusers and pipework.
Our thoughts
Blocked drippers are one of those problems you don't notice until a plant's already suffered for it, and ATA Clean is cheap insurance against that. A tiny dose in every feed keeps mineral deposits dissolved and moving through the system instead of building up in the parts you can't easily see. Not exciting, but exactly the sort of product that saves you a headache later.
ATA Clean is a cleaning additive from Atami that's dosed into your nutrient solution to keep irrigation systems running clear. It works by targeting water-soluble metallic nutrients and ions - iron, manganese, calcium and magnesium - and bonding with them before they can crystallise into the flakes and scale that clog drippers, diffusers and pipe couplings. Anything that has already started to build up is broken down and made water-soluble again, so it's flushed out with the normal feed rather than sitting in the system.
Standard dosage is 0.1ml per litre of nutrient solution. Although the label carries a PK value of 18-6, Atami is clear that ATA Clean isn't a fertiliser - the PK content is a by-product of the cleaning compounds, not a feeding input. It's harmless to plants and the environment at the recommended dose.
How it compares
ATA Clean sits alongside the small handful of dedicated irrigation-line cleaners aimed at hydroponic and drip-fed growers.
- House & Garden Drip Clean does a similar job, attracting mineral and salt particles before they settle in drip lines and emitters, and is dosed at the same 0.1ml per litre rate throughout the grow.
- Skipping a cleaner altogether and relying on plain water flushes is cheaper short-term but won't dissolve mineral scale that's already forming inside pipework and AutoPot valves.
- ATA Clean's dosage is low enough to run continuously through a full cycle without it becoming a noticeable added cost per feed.
A small, ongoing dose that's cheaper than replacing blocked drippers or stripping down an AutoPot system to clear scale.
Usage guidance
ATA Clean is designed to be added at the end of your normal feed prep, not the start.
Mixing order
Prepare your base nutrient solution and correct pH first (aiming for 5.5-6.5), leave it to settle briefly, then add ATA Clean at 0.1ml per litre.
Frequency
Dose every feed throughout the grow cycle rather than occasionally - the cleaning effect comes from continuous low-level dosing, not one-off shock treatments.
Systems it suits
Particularly useful in drip, AutoPot and other gravity-fed or dripper-based systems where small-bore pipework and valves are most prone to scale buildup.
Technical specifications
- Format: liquid additive
- Dosage: 0.1ml per litre of nutrient solution
- Nutrient label value: PK 18-6 (not classified as a fertiliser)
- Function: dissolves and prevents mineral salt/scale buildup in irrigation pipework
- Compatible systems: drip, AutoPot, and other recirculating or gravity-fed irrigation
- Safety: harmless to plants and the environment at recommended dose
Who this is for
- AutoPot and drip-system growers wanting to protect valves and drippers from scale
- Growers in hard water areas where mineral buildup is a bigger risk
- Anyone who's already had a blocked dripper or diffuser and wants to avoid a repeat
- Growers running long, multi-month cycles where scale has more time to build up
Best suited to any irrigation-fed grow where small-bore pipework or valves are part of the system.
Our take
A cheap, low-effort addition to your feed schedule that protects the parts of your system you don't want to be pulling apart and cleaning by hand.
Does exactly what it should, day in, day out - worth adding to the shopping list alongside your usual nutrients.
