G.A.S EC1 Thermostatic Fan Speed Controller - Compact Thermostatic Control for a Single EC Fan
Best for: growers running a single Revolution/Systemair EC fan who want thermostatic control without paying for a two-fan balancing controller.
Our thoughts
The EC1 is the simplest thermostatic option in the EC range - three dials, no separate power supply, and it does one job well: keeping a single EC fan responding to temperature. If you later add a second fan, a Y-splitter (sold separately) lets you bring your intake along for the ride too.
The G.A.S EC1 gives full thermostatic control for Revolution Vector and Silenced Revolution Vector EC fans. It connects via the fan's white Active Cable connector, drawing power from the fan itself, so there's no mains power supply to wire in separately.
The controller reads room temperature through its inbuilt probe and regulates the connected fan's maximum and minimum speeds to keep conditions inside your set range. It has a 2°C bandwidth - meaning it starts ramping the fan up roughly 2°C before your maximum temperature is reached, so it responds ahead of the peak rather than after it. Everything is set using three dials. With a separately available Y-splitter, you can extend control to your intake fan at the same time, effectively running two fans off the one controller.
How it compares
The EC1 is the compact, single-fan option in the EC range.
- Versus the G.A.S EC2: the EC2 has balancing built in for a fan pair as standard; the EC1 needs the optional Y-splitter to control a second fan.
- Versus the G.A.S AC1: the AC1 covers standard AC fans up to 5A; the EC1 is EC-fan specific and fan-powered, so it needs no mains connection of its own.
- Versus TrolMaster's entry-level thermostat modules: TrolMaster's ecosystem costs considerably more to get into but adds app connectivity the EC1 doesn't offer.
For a single EC fan, the EC1 gives genuine thermostatic control at the lowest cost of entry in the G.A.S EC line-up.
Usage guidance
Installation follows the same active-cable approach as the rest of the EC range.
Installation
Connect to your Revolution Vector or Silenced Revolution Vector EC fan via its white Active Cable connector - no separate power supply needed.
Setting the thermostat
Use the three dials to set your target temperature and your minimum/maximum fan speeds; the controller will begin ramping the fan roughly 2°C before your maximum is reached.
Adding a second fan
Fit a Y-splitter (sold separately) if you want to bring your intake fan under the same thermostatic control.
Technical specifications
- Control type: Thermostatic EC fan speed control, single output as standard
- Manufacturer: Global Air Supplies (G.A.S UK)
- Power supply: Fan-powered via Active Cable - no separate PSU required
- Compatible fans: Revolution Vector and Silenced Revolution Vector EC fans (white Active Cable connector)
- Ramp-up bandwidth: Approx. 2°C below set maximum temperature
- Controls: 3 dials (temperature, minimum speed, maximum speed)
- Expansion: Optional Y-splitter (sold separately) for second fan control
Who this is for
- Growers running a single Revolution/Systemair EC fan who want automatic thermostatic control
- New growers wanting their first thermostatic EC controller without the cost of a two-fan system
- Anyone who might expand to a second fan later via the optional Y-splitter
Best suited to single-fan setups rather than rooms already running a balanced intake/outtake pair.
Our take
The EC1 keeps things simple - one fan, three dials, proper thermostatic response, no unnecessary extras. That's exactly what a lot of single-fan setups need and nothing more.
If you're running one EC fan and want it to respond to temperature automatically, this does exactly what it should, day in, day out.
