CX Horticulture Hydro Base A&B — Professional Two-Part Hydroponic Nutrients
Best for: Growers running hydroponic systems who want reliable, uncomplicated feeding that actually works
Our thoughts
This is proper kit. CX Hydro Base has spent 20 years earning its stripes with commercial growers worldwide, and you can see why — it's accurate, simple, and doesn't mess about with overcomplicated schedules. Two-part liquid nutrient done right, at a sensible price point.
CX Horticulture Hydro Base A&B is a two-part base nutrient concentrate designed for all hydroponic systems — whether you're running recirculating, drain-to-waste, hand-watering, or drip irrigation. Built on actual plant tissue analysis and powered by CX's exclusive Hot Mix Technology, it delivers precisely balanced nutrition from vegetative growth through to flowering, without forcing you into complicated three-part schedules or confusing feeding charts.
This is a straight-through formula. Mix both parts in equal rates, dial in your EC, and it handles the rest. No stage-specific juggling. No additives you don't need. Just consistent, highly available nutrition that does exactly what base nutrients should do.
How it compares
Two-part hydroponic nutrients sit in that sweet spot between simplicity and control. Here's where CX Hydro Base stands:
-
vs one-part systems: Gives you the flexibility to adjust nitrogen:potassium ratios as plants move through growth stages, without being locked into a fixed formula
-
vs three-part systems: No unnecessary complexity. You're not paying for or mixing extra bottles you don't need
-
vs commodity two-parts: Hot Mix Technology and plant tissue–derived ratios deliver more responsive feeding and stronger plant development than generic A&B blends
-
Commercial pedigree: 20 years of proven track record with professional growers globally — this isn't theoretical, it's battle-tested
Positioned as professional-grade without the professional-grade price tag.
Usage guidance
Basic dosing
Both Part A and Part B are added at equal rates. CX recommends a minimum of 1.2 EC (electrical conductivity) for standard growth — that's 2ml of each part per litre of water. For lighter feeding, both parts at 1ml/L gives you 0.6 EC. Always shake the bottles well before use.
For recirculating systems
Mix both parts into your reservoir at your target EC, maintaining consistent levels throughout the growing cycle. The nutrient ratio stays balanced automatically — no separate veg/bloom switching required unless you want finer control.
For drain-to-waste hand-watering
Mix your solution fresh each time at your chosen EC, feed to runoff, and discard excess. Works cleanly in pots, flood trays, and drip systems.
Critical mixing rule
Never mix Part A and Part B together in concentrated form. Always add each part separately to your water, stir well, then add the next one. This prevents nutrient lockout and ensures proper availability in your reservoir.
Pairing with CX additives
Hydro Base integrates seamlessly with CX Horticulture's complementary range — things like Growth Enhancer for vegetative boost — but works perfectly as a standalone base nutrient. Only mix one additive at a time into your reservoir, stirring between each addition.
