Advanced Nutrients Connoisseur Grow A&B — Premium Two-Part Hydroponic Nutrients for Expert Growers
Best for: Experienced growers with dialled-in environments ready to push yields and quality to the next level
Our thoughts
This is flagship territory. Connoisseur Grow sits at the top of Advanced Nutrients' base nutrient range and it knows it. If you've mastered your environment, nailed your technique, and want to squeeze every last bit of performance from your setup, this is the nutrient system built for that. Not for beginners. Very much for growers who've already got results and want better ones.
Advanced Nutrients Connoisseur Grow A&B is a premium two-part liquid nutrient system engineered for the vegetative growth phase in hydroponic and recirculating setups. This is the top-tier formulation from Advanced Nutrients — designed specifically for experienced growers who've already mastered the basics and are ready to unlock the full genetic potential of their plants.
The system uses Advanced Nutrients' proprietary pH Perfect Technology, which automatically adjusts your nutrient solution to the sweet spot of pH 5.5–6.3, regardless of your input water's acidity or alkalinity. That means no more pH drift, no daily monitoring, and one less variable to stress about — provided you're running it clean with other Advanced Nutrients products.
Beyond pH stability, Connoisseur Grow contains a carefully balanced blend of amino acids (the building blocks of plant protein), humic and fulvic acids for enhanced nutrient transport, and chelated micronutrients that hit harder than standard formulations. The advanced wetting agents work to improve nutrient uptake across the board. All of this is designed to deliver vigorous, accelerated vegetative growth and set your plants up for maximum yields in the flowering stage.
How it compares
Connoisseur Grow sits at the premium end of the two-part hydroponic nutrient market.
-
vs. Advanced Nutrients Sensi Grow: Marginally superior formulation with higher concentration and premium ingredients, but real-world results are minimal for most growers. You're paying for the last 5–10% of performance and the research backing it.
-
vs. Canna Aqua/Hydro A&B: Similar price tier, different chemistry. Connoisseur's pH Perfect tech gives you automation; Canna requires manual pH control but is equally reliable in the right hands.
-
vs. House & Garden Coco/Hydro: More expensive, but Connoisseur's chelated micronutrient profile and amino acid blend are noticeably richer.
-
vs. Athena Grow A+B: Both premium, both professional-grade. Athena is simpler and appeals to a wider skill range; Connoisseur is deliberately pitched at the top tier only.
In plain terms: you're buying the flagship product from a Canadian nutrient powerhouse that's been refining formulations since 1999. The price reflects that investment.
Usage guidance
Connoisseur Grow works across multiple hydroponic systems — drip irrigation, flood and drain, NFT, aeroponic, and hand watering — but it's optimised for recirculating setups.
Standard dosage
Use 4ml of Part A and 4ml of Part B per litre of water (or 4ml per gallon if you prefer imperial). This is the manufacturer recommendation. Some experienced growers run lighter at 2–2.5ml per litre and still get excellent results — dial in what works for your environment.
Mixing instructions
Always add Part A first, mix thoroughly, then add Part B. Never mix both parts in their concentrated form — you'll get nutrient lockout. Add them one at a time to your reservoir, stir well between each addition.
Water quality matters
pH Perfect Technology works best with RO (reverse osmosis) water or water below 100ppm EC. If your tap water is heavily mineralised, switch to RO — it's the difference between the system working cleanly and pH fighting against your input water.
pH management
Once mixed with Connoisseur and other Advanced Nutrients products, your solution will naturally settle at pH 5.5–6.3. If you've added any other brand's nutrients to the mix, pH Perfect might not engage properly and you'll need to monitor manually. Keep it clean.
Companion products
Connoisseur Grow pairs with Advanced Nutrients' specialty additives — Big Bud, B-52, Overdrive — to complete a full professional feeding regimen. Many growers add Big Bud from mid-veg onwards for structure and flowering potential.
Calcium-magnesium considerations
Some growers report needing supplemental calcium and magnesium depending on medium and water type. If you see early deficiency signs, address via foliar feeding rather than adding to your reservoir — it keeps the pH Perfect system stable.

Who this is for
- Experienced hydroponic growers with a minimum of 1–2 years active growing under their belt
- Growers whose environments are already dialled in (lighting, humidity, temperature, air movement all locked down)
- Anyone running successful crops and wanting to push yields and quality further
- Professional and commercial operations where maximising output justifies the premium cost
- Growers comfortable with two-part nutrient systems and precise mixing protocols
- RO water users or those with low-EC tap water (pH Perfect works best in these conditions)
This is not for first-year growers, those still troubleshooting environmental basics, or anyone looking to keep costs lean. Connoisseur is the step after you've nailed everything else.
Our take
Connoisseur Grow is Advanced Nutrients' flagship for a reason. It's precisely formulated, backed by serious research, and designed for growers who've already proven they know what they're doing. The pH Perfect automation genuinely removes a headache from hydroponic growing, and the nutrient profile is noticeably richer than the cheaper Sensi alternative.
That said — and we'll be straight with you — if you're getting strong results from a mid-tier two-part system already, Connoisseur's gains are incremental. You're paying for the last few percentage points of performance and the peace of mind of running a flagship product. Worth it if you've got the environment and experience to make use of it. Not a shortcut to better results if the rest of your setup isn't already solid.
Good time to stock up on premium base nutrients while clearance pricing lasts. If Connoisseur is your choice, you know what you're after.
