Vitalink Coir MAX A&B Hard Water — Two-Part Coco Nutrients Built for UK Water
Best for: UK growers in hard water areas wanting reliable, coco-specific base nutrients that work with their water supply, not against it
Our thoughts
This is a properly thought-through coco feed formulated specifically for hard water. It compensates for what's already in your tap water, includes elevated calcium to handle coco's binding tendencies, and chelated iron that stays available across a wide pH range. It's made in the UK, covers the full growing cycle, and delivers solid results without the premium brand markup. One we recommend a lot.
Vitalink Coir MAX A&B Hard Water is a two-part base nutrient system designed specifically for growing in coco coir media with hard water supplies. Unlike generic feeds, this formulation takes your water chemistry into account — it contains lower levels of calcium and magnesium than the soft water version, preventing nutrient excess in areas where tap water is already mineral-rich.
The formula includes chelated iron (EDDHA) that remains available across a wide pH range, plus fulvic acid to enhance nutrient uptake and stronger photosynthesis. Coco coir naturally binds calcium and releases excess potassium, so Vitalink compensates with elevated calcium levels and adjusted potassium ratios — it's engineered for coco, not a generic solution forced into a coco box.
Use it from week one through to the end of flowering, keeping dosing steady and simple. A solid entry-to-mid tier two-part feed that covers the basics properly and won't rinse your budget.
How it compares
Vitalink Coir MAX sits in the value-for-money range of coco-specific base nutrients.
- Same coco-specific engineering as premium brands like Canna, without the price premium
- Hard water formulation gives you a genuine advantage over generic feeds in mineral-rich areas
- Includes EDDHA iron and fulvic acid — features usually found in more expensive products
- UK-made and tailored to UK water profiles, not afterthought international formulations
- Single two-part system covers full growth and flowering cycle — simpler than three-part complexity
Usage guidance
Seedlings and young plants
Start at 1–2 ml/L of each part (A and B). Always use equal volumes of A and B mixed together.
Established plants in active growth
Increase to 3–4 ml/L of each part once plants are established and growing vigorously. This dosage carries through both vegetation and flowering stages.
Application systems
Works cleanly in hand-watering, gravity feed, flood-and-drain, and drip systems. Mix A and B together in water before use.
pH management
Target a pH range of 5.8–6.5 for optimal uptake. The solution is highly stable once mixed, so you can prepare ahead without degradation.
Hard water note
This formulation assumes your water supply is already rich in minerals. If you're in a soft water area, you may want the soft water version or consider adding a half-strength CalMag supplement at 0.5 ml/L during growth phase.

Who this is for
- Coco growers in hard water areas who want nutrients actually formulated for their water chemistry
- First-time coco growers looking for a reliable, proven two-part system without overcomplication
- Experienced growers seeking consistent results at sensible pricing
- Anyone running hand-watering, flood-and-drain, or drip systems in coco
- Growers who want full nutrient control without soil buffering getting in the way
- Budget-conscious setups where cost adds up across multiple containers or rooms
Particularly well-suited to UK growers who've had mediocre results with generic feeds and want something actually designed for their tap water supply.
Our take
This is a proper coco nutrient engineered for the job, not a generic feed slapped onto a coco product. The hard water formulation is a genuine advantage if you're in a mineral-rich area — it means you're not fighting your water supply or dealing with nutrient lockout from calcium excess. EDDHA iron and fulvic acid are real features that improve uptake and plant vigour, and you're not paying premium prices for them.
Vitalink has built a reputation for delivering good results at honest prices, and Coir MAX is no different. It works through the full growing cycle, mixes easily, integrates into any system, and does exactly what it should — day in, day out.
Good time to buy while stock lasts. Worth picking up if you're running coco on hard water and want kit that actually knows what it's doing.
