Terra Aquatica TriPart FloraMicro SW – Soft Water Micronutrient Component
Best for: Soft water growers using the TriPart three-part hydroponic nutrient system
Our thoughts
If you're on soft water and running TriPart, this is non-negotiable. We've seen plenty of growers chase phantom deficiencies because they're using the wrong Micro version. Get this bit right and the whole system clicks into place — your Grow and Bloom actually do their job, your pH stabilises, and feeding becomes predictable rather than stressful. One we recommend constantly for soft water setups.
Terra Aquatica TriPart FloraMicro SW is the micronutrient backbone of the TriPart three-part feeding system, formulated specifically for growers running soft water or reverse osmosis supplies. This is the micro component you need if your water hardness sits below 70 mg/L calcium.
Where soft water lacks usable calcium and magnesium, FloraMicro SW compensates. It delivers all the trace elements plants need—boron, calcium, copper, iron, manganese, molybdenum, and zinc—in chelated form for maximum uptake. Equally important, it stabilises pH and allows the Grow and Bloom components to perform exactly as designed. This is why water-type specificity matters; use the wrong version and nothing works quite right, no matter how much you adjust feeding rates.
The TriPart system itself dates back to 1976 and remains one of the most flexible, trusted three-part nutrient formulas in hydroponics. Developed by former NASA chemists, it's built for precision and leaves minimal salt buildup in your tank or plants.
How it compares
TriPart Micro sits in a different category to all-in-one or two-part systems.
-
Three-part vs. all-in-one: TriPart gives you control—adjust Grow and Bloom ratios independently based on growth stage. All-in-one feeds are fixed ratios, simpler but less flexible
-
Water-type specificity: FloraMicro SW is engineered for soft water; hard water users need the HW version. Most competitors don't offer this distinction, which is why deficiencies crop up
-
Chelation quality: All nutrients chelated for better plant uptake, keeping buildup lower than standard formulas
-
Proven track record: 40+ years of development and millions of growers worldwide; consistently appears in top nutrient rankings across the UK
Usage guidance
Checking your water type
Test your water hardness first. If it's below 70 mg/L calcium or you're using reverse osmosis, this SW version is the one. Hard water growers should use FloraMicro HW instead.
Mixing order
Add FloraMicro SW to your reservoir first, stir thoroughly, then add FloraGro and FloraBloom separately. Never mix the concentrates together directly—this causes flocculation and nutrient lockout.
Dosage across growth stages
FloraMicro stays consistent throughout the cycle, but adjust it based on plant maturity:
- First roots to early growth: 0.5–1.0 ml/L
- Vegetative stage: 1.2 ml/L
- Pre-flowering to flowering: 1.6–2.0 ml/L
During vegetative growth, run higher FloraGro ratios. Switch emphasis to FloraBloom as you move into flowering. FloraMicro remains the constant.
System compatibility
Works in hydroponics, coco, and soil. Equally at home in run-to-waste systems or recirculating reservoirs. One of the few truly universal nutrient components.
pH management
FloraMicro contains buffer substances that stabilise pH across the system. Once dialled in, pH should remain stable without constant adjustment—this is what separates it from cheaper three-parts.

Who this is for
- Soft water or RO-fed growers starting a TriPart system
- Hydroponics enthusiasts who want precise nutrient control
- Anyone running multiple plants where feed consistency matters
- Growers who've struggled with deficiencies and want to dial nutrition in properly
- First-time three-part users looking for a proven, stable formula
- Experienced growers wanting minimal tank buildup and maximum plant health
Particularly suited to setups where water quality is the starting point for all nutrient decisions—if you've got soft water, this removes the guesswork entirely.
Our take
This is proper three-part hydroponics done right. TriPart FloraMicro SW isn't fancy or overhyped, but it's been working for 40+ years because the formula works. Soft water growers especially benefit—you get a nutrient component specifically engineered for your water type, which means no chasing shadows trying to fix deficiencies that shouldn't exist in the first place.
If you're setting up soft water hydroponics and want a system you can trust without constant tweaking, this is worth picking up. One we sell a lot of because it simply does the job, day in, day out. Good time to buy while clearance stock lasts.
