Eazy Plugs & Blocks — Organic Propagation System for Seed to Early Growth
Best for: Growers wanting a full-cycle organic rooting system that skips the faff and delivers consistent results
Our thoughts
This is a properly thought-out propagation system, not just a bag of plugs. The fact that you can go from seed to early veg in the same medium without transplanting halfway through is genuinely smart. Organic, buffered, and designed to work—one we recommend a lot to growers who don't want to mess about with rockwool pH swings or cheap pellets that don't hold together.
Eazy Plugs & Blocks is a complete organic propagation system that takes you from seed or cutting straight through to early vegetative growth without the usual medium-swapping hassle. Made from pressed coco and an organic bonding agent—not peat, not rockwool—these plugs are 100% compostable, pre-buffered to a neutral pH of 5.8–6.0, and designed to self-regulate their air-to-water ratio. Transplant your rooted plug directly into an Eazy Block and you're ready for the next stage. No plastic wrapping needed. No mystery pH fluctuations. Just reliable rooting and root development that actually works.
How it compares
Eazy sits in the mid-to-premium tier of UK propagation media, positioned between budget pellets and commercial rockwool systems.
-
vs Jiffy Pellets: Jiffy is cheaper and proven, but requires more handling and offers less structural support. Eazy holds together better and needs no transplant prep.
-
vs Root Riot Cubes: Root Riot is faster for raw rooting speed, but Eazy's full-cycle system (plugs into blocks) eliminates an extra transplant step and saves on fertiliser costs.
-
vs Grodan Rockwool: Grodan is the commercial standard, but requires pH buffering and comes wrapped in plastic. Eazy is organic, plastic-free, and pre-balanced.
-
vs Plug Life: Both organic and nutrient-enriched, but Eazy's air-pruning system and no-plastic design gives it a sustainability edge.
What sets Eazy apart: you're buying a system, not just plugs. The blocks are designed specifically to accept the plugs, the whole thing is buffered from the start, and there's no plastic waste involved.
Usage guidance
Germination (Eazy Plugs)
Place your seed or cutting into the pre-cut hole. The plug contains enough moisture for germination out of the bag. Use a closed propagator to maintain humidity—moisture stays in the system and you'll see roots pop within 3 days. The organic bonding holds the plug intact during this phase, so minimal root damage when you move it on.
Early vegetative growth (Eazy Blocks)
Once roots are established, transplant the entire plug into an Eazy Block. The block is bonded tightly enough that it needs no plastic sleeve. As roots reach the outer edge, air pruning kicks in—the roots hit relatively dry air, stop growing outward, and trigger a cascade of secondary roots and root hair growth throughout the block. This creates a dense, efficient root system that maximises nutrient and water uptake. Blocks will provide roughly 2 weeks of pre-buffered nutrition before you need to pot up or move to full feed.
Watering and feeding
Both plugs and blocks self-regulate their moisture level. They hold exactly what they need—no guesswork, no overwatering. The pre-set pH of 5.8–6.0 is buffered, so small deviations correct themselves. You can dry them out completely for storage; rehydration is instant when you need them again.

Who this is for
- Growers who want to skip the rockwool pH guessing game and go organic
- Anyone propagating both seeds and cuttings who values consistency across different material types
- Environmentally-conscious indoor growers tired of plastic-wrapped propagation media
- Commercial or semi-commercial operators looking to cut cycle times and fertiliser costs
- Experienced growers who appreciate the air-pruning principle and robust root development
- Budget-conscious operations wanting to eliminate transplant stages and media waste
Particularly well suited to growers running closed propagators where humidity control is dialled in and you want the medium to do the heavy lifting on buffering and moisture management.
Our take
This is a genuinely smart propagation system. You're not paying for hype—you're paying for design that actually cuts out a step. The organic credentials are real (4-star biobased certified), the air-pruning science works, and the fact that plugs slot directly into blocks without needing a second medium switch saves time, money, and packaging waste.
Fair warning: the pre-fertilisation in the blocks may deplete slightly faster than advertised (around 1.5 weeks rather than 2), so plan your potting schedule accordingly. But that's a minor timing thing, not a failure.
If you're after a proper full-cycle organic propagation system that delivers consistent strike rates and doesn't require you to understand rockwool chemistry, this is worth picking up. Particularly good value while clearance stock lasts.
