EasyFeed System - 30 Litre — Programmable Gravity-Fed Irrigation for Soil and Coco
Best for: Growers ready to automate watering without electricity, mains pressure, or the complexity of pump systems
Our thoughts
This is what happens when someone actually listens to what growers hate about bottom-feed systems. The EasyFeed solves the two big problems—you get timer control (so you're not constantly wet), and the pipes are thick enough that they won't clog like traditional 4mm systems do. British-made, scalable, and it does the job properly. One we rate highly for anyone running 4-12 pots and wanting their weekends back.
The EasyFeed System is a gravity-fed automatic irrigation setup designed to take the repetitive labour out of tending multiple pots. Unlike passive gravity-fed competitors, it combines a battery-powered timer with 13mm (internal) pipework and air-pruning fabric pots to give you programmable control over feeding frequency and dry-back cycles—the things that actually matter for healthy roots and faster growth. Made in Britain by Alien Hydroponics (proper hydro specialists), it works with soil, coco, or mixed substrates, indoors or out, and scales from 4 pots to 100+ without changing the fundamentals.
How it compares
This sits in a smart middle ground between simple passive systems and complex pump setups.
-
vs. AutoPot: Same ease of use, but you control the watering schedule and dry-back periods. Thicker pipes mean no clogging headaches. AutoPots need frequent cleaning; EasyFeed doesn't.
-
vs. Wick-based systems: More control, better for larger pots and varied plant sizes. Allows you to set feeding duration (1 minute to 2 hours) and frequency (hourly to weekly).
-
vs. Pump systems: No electricity needed, no complex plumbing, fraction of the cost. Trade-off is you're gravity-fed, so it suits mid-scale operations better than commercial high-frequency setups.
In plain terms: automation that actually works, without the faffing around.
Usage guidance
Setting up the system
The 30 litre configuration comes with enough pipework to space pots at 44cm to 91cm centres. Each pot sits in its own tray fitted with a float valve—this stops the nutrient level rising above a set height, preventing overfilling. You can adjust the valve height individually, so plants at different growth stages can feed at the same time without drama.
Programming the timer
The battery-operated timer (runs on 2 x AAA, lasts roughly 9 weeks) controls both frequency and duration. Choose to feed hourly, daily, every 2-3 days, or weekly. Set feeding duration from 1 minute to 2 hours depending on your substrate and pot size. This is where the system earns its money—you're controlling the dry-back, not the float valve.
Reservoir sizing
As a rough rule, keep at least 1 gallon (4 litres) of tank capacity per pot in your system. A 4-pot setup wants a minimum 16L reservoir; 8 pots need 32L+. This buffer prevents the water level dropping mid-feed cycle.
Substrate compatibility
Works cleanly with soil, 100% coco, or mixes (60/40 coco and clay pebbles works well). The fabric pots air-prune roots naturally, so growth is typically faster than static pots. Oxygen levels stay high even between feeds because the medium isn't sitting waterlogged.
Maintenance
The filter catches debris before it reaches the pipework. Check it weekly during heavy growth. The 13mm pipes won't clog like thinner systems, but a quick flush at cycle end keeps everything running clean. Fabric pots last multiple seasons if rinsed out properly.

Who this is for
- Intermediate to experienced growers ready to move beyond hand watering but not ready for pump complexity
- Operators running 4-12 pots (per unit) where time and consistency matter equally
- Anyone growing in spaces where electricity isn't available (outdoor, garage, sheds)
- Growers who want to control dry-back cycles and prevent root rot from constant wetness
- Operators scaling from 4 pots to 20, 50, or 100+ without changing the system type
- Soil and coco growers specifically (not hydroponic systems)
Particularly well suited to setups where reliable automation and root health are equally important, and you want zero electricity dependency.
Our take
This is what a gravity-fed system should have been from the start. It gives you the simplicity of passive systems with the control you actually need. The timer removes the guesswork, the thick pipes stop the clogging nonsense, and the air-pruning fabric pots genuinely speed up growth. British-made, proper engineering, and it scales with your operation.
If you're juggling more than 4 pots and hand watering is eating your week, this is the smart move. Worth picking up while stock lasts—proper kit that does exactly what it should, day in, day out.
