Duct Tape Aluminium Silver Foil 50m - Reflective Repairs for Sheeting and Ducting
Best for: Fixing joins and tears in reflective foil or Mylar-style sheeting, or sealing ducting where a shiny, heat-resistant finish matters.
Our thoughts
This is the tape you reach for when you've torn your reflective sheeting and need a proper fix, not a bodge job. It's thicker than standard cloth duct tape, so it's brilliant for flat, straightforward repairs but less forgiving round awkward bends and fittings. Good to have a roll in the kit alongside your grey cloth tape for the jobs each one suits best.
Aluminium foil duct tape is a reflective, silver-finished tape designed for repairing joins and tears in foil or Mylar-style reflective sheeting, as well as general ducting and sealing jobs where a heat-reflective surface is useful. The foil backing gives it a smooth, shiny finish that blends in against reflective grow room walls and helps bounce light back onto your plants rather than showing a dull grey patch.
Compared with standard cloth-backed duct tape, foil tape is thicker and less flexible, which makes it excellent for flat repairs and joins but noticeably less forgiving when you're trying to wrap it round curves, corners or awkward ducting fittings. It comes on a 50m roll, so there's enough to sort out sheeting repairs across a full tent or room without running out partway through the job.
How it compares
Foil tape and cloth tape solve overlapping but different problems, and it's worth knowing which one to reach for.
- More reflective and better suited to sheeting repairs than grey cloth duct tape, which flexes better but shows as a visible patch against foil walls.
- Thicker and stiffer than standard cloth tape, so less suitable for fiddly repairs around ducting bends and fittings.
- A cheaper, faster fix than replacing a whole panel of reflective sheeting for a small tear or seam.
If the job is a flat join or tear in reflective sheeting, foil tape is the better tool, for anything with curves or awkward angles, reach for cloth tape instead.
Usage guidance
Sheeting repairs
Clean and dry the area around the tear, overlap the tape generously on both sides of the join, and press down firmly from the centre outwards to avoid trapping air bubbles.
Ducting seals
Wrap tape around straight sections of duct joins where reflectivity or heat resistance matters, working in short overlapping wraps rather than trying to stretch one long piece round the join.
Storage
Keep the roll somewhere dry, foil tape adhesive can degrade if left somewhere damp or in direct sun for long periods between uses.

Who this is for
- Growers repairing torn or joined reflective/Mylar sheeting
- Anyone sealing straight ducting joins where a reflective finish helps
- Growers who want a tape that matches their tent's reflective interior rather than showing a grey patch
- Anyone stocking a basic grow room repair kit
Best suited to flat sheeting and ducting repairs rather than fiddly bends, keep a roll of cloth tape on hand for those instead.
Our take
A cheap, sensible bit of kit to have around, it fixes the single most common grow room repair job, torn reflective sheeting, properly rather than with whatever's lying around the shed.
One roll goes a long way at 50m. Does exactly what it should, day in, day out.
